There are many different categories of blogs but here I will be concentrating on just a few types of blogs. According to Rick Farrington, a majority of bloggers blogs are categorized under personal blogs. Writers in these kinds of blogs usually write about their personal life and things that relate to their personal lifestyle. Personal blogs are also used as a source of income as it depends on the amount of 'clicks' a blogger gets on their blog page. It depends on how many times internet readers click on their blog or an advertisement posted up in the blog. A personal blog also has a personal touch onto it. A blogger can personalize his or her blog with anything he or she chooses as it is their personal blog.

Cultural Blog
Another type of blog is a cultural blog which talks about musical interests, art and other types of culture. This attracts readers that have an interest on the same genre of music or art. This is where they can exchange their knowledge of other cultures or music. Again, it connects people far and wide and creates a 'global village' through the usage of the internet. People also write reviews of their favourite musical icon or favourite current song on the radio or on their list. Discussions of the meanings and underlining factors hidden in art or music are discussed here within the new community they have created.

Business Blog
A business blog is basically a blog that has a lot of relations to business studies as well as other topics related to business. This is also where companies promote their products and their business. The internet now has been an influencing factor in businesses especially with the new wave of massive usage of blogs. Companies has turned to blogs as a way to connect to business partners as well as their consumers.
